Here's an excellent way to introduce Schloss Eggenberg. Many peacocks roam freely about the estate. 
This picture made me laugh a little too much. These faces remind me of when the family gets together and then everyone wants a picture so some kids come reluctantly and others are enthused. Still others protest...


While waiting for the tour to begin after Google maps lied and we walked all the way around the Schloss (castle). 
I'm leaving this here for the kids to explain to you when they get home. Several read it and I think it will be a neat way to ask them questions.

We had plans to be there for a tour at 3. With the long walk, we still had some time so many students stopped for pictures of the all the beauty inside the grounds. 
On our way, Elena and Josie listen to music together on the Straßenbahn. The kids are getting along so well together. 



Wednesday was a usual school day with a free time being used to work on the Abschiedsprogramm (goodbye program) and the memory book.

New, new, new

  The students have had many new experiences! Monday afternoon we went up to the Uhrturm with the Schloßbergbahn. This is a train that takes you up the mountain so that you can explore the beautiful area. There beautiful views, flowers and bees, and new friends made.  This is how we came down. We walked all of these stairs. I'm not sure who had the best time doing all the walking, but many smiles were had. The children enjoyed the exploring, but we weren't done yet! After our wonderful tour, we walked through the city. As we walked, the students decided that one of them is a pirate! The birds all belong to the pirate and are his friends. Lol! Then we arrived at our destination!  Apple strudel with vanilla sauce! It was very tasty, and unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the strudel! The first day of school!

Today is a first day at school. All the students came to school! 😊 We talked with all the students about how they are sleeping so far. Most are doing well with adjusting to the lack of AC and a different time zone.  Several students have shared that they've eaten breakfast. As a high school teacher, this made me happy. Several have eaten a typical Austrian breakfast with bread with butter, yogurt, and even vegetables!  Today in school they take a test to show proficiency. They will take this test at the end as well to show growth.  If you would like general questions answered, please leave a comment.  Today we will take a walk through Graz with a tour guide. Wednesday will go to the town hall and meet with Julia Strobel from the city.

Games and Weapons

  Ludovico was a huge hit with the students. Everyone enjoyed LOOKING at the thousands of board games available. More fun was had playing several different games.  Sebastian did a wonderful job find several quick start games for us to play. He also took the time to engage with the students when the questions came. I think we all felt it was the safest yet scariest place.   The amount of weapons is beyond comprehension. There are over 32,000 objects.
